Grieving the Loss of Connor Vogel
There are certain events in life that are almost impossible to understand from a human perspective. One of these events happened early this past Saturday morning when our own Connor Vogel suffered a brain injury and passed away.
Connor was a computer science major at UNCW and an active member of Christ Community Church where several of our staff members worship. We were fortunate to have him interning at our office as a web site developer. Connor approached his job and his life with an attitude of service. He always wanted to know how he could help or how he could make someone else’s life better. He walked into Proclaim every day with a smile and a laugh.
I’ve always thought of Proclaim as a family. Connor was an integral part of this family. He was my friend, and I miss him immensely. I miss him heckling Roger about his beloved Yankees. I miss his gangly walk as he strolled in with a backpack on his shoulder. My wife and I have grieved together, and I know that the rest of our staff feels the same way.
Our Proclaim family sends our condolences to the Vogel family. My heart breaks for the many college students who were friends with Connor. I take comfort in knowing that Connor had a close relationship with Christ and that we’ll get to see his grin for all eternity.
Our Proclaim flag will be flown at half-mast in honor of Connor’s life. We hope you will join with us in praying for Connor’s family and friends in this difficult time.
