Spence Hackney, President
What is your title and when did you start at Proclaim?
S: When I started in 1999 I did it all. I was the janitor and the CEO! Today, I’ve settled on being the president (although I always think this title is way WAY too pretentious).
Please describe your day-to-day role(s).
S: My primary role it to make people happy, seriously. I work to create happy staff, happy clients and happy prospects. If I can do this everyone wins.
What is your all-time favorite book? Why?
S: The Bible…far and away. Nothing else comes close. I’m a big fan of Crazy Love by Francis Chan, The Treasure Principle by Randy Alcorn and Knowing God by J.I. Packer, too.
As the Founder, Owner and President of this company, what has been the best piece of advice you’ve received?
S: My father-in-law taught me to look for the win-win scenario. Someone else doesn’t have to lose for me to win. This has served me really well. My dad coached me to be honest and not to try to hide failures. If you mess up, admit it and clean it up.
What is your favorite way to spend time outside of work?
S: Anything with the family, hopefully in the water or the woods! My wife and I both grew up in boats, so that is part of us. I’ve got three boys all in Cub Scouts or Boy Scouts so I spend a lot of nights in a tent, as well.
Why did you choose to go into the Marketing / Website Design field?
S: I’m one of those strange people who is creative and technical. I’m also an extrovert and get my energy from being around people. Digital marketing fits this pretty well.
