Meet the Team: Sam Holt
Could you explain what your role entails here at Proclaim Interactive?
Sam: Sure! As the marketing analyst, I’m responsible for communicating the results of our marketing campaigns to clients and providing recommendations on how to achieve the next level of growth. Day-to-day, this looks like analyzing raw data, understanding it within the context of client goals, and providing recommendations on where to improve. Then, putting this information into a visual presentation that speaks the client’s language. The best part of my job is when a client sees the report, clearly understands what we’re doing and is happy with the results we’re providing. Not all agencies provide meaningful reports like this, so it’s really special to be at a firm where our values of transparency and honesty impacts everything we do. Besides reporting, I also manage reputation building, assist with search engine optimization and general marketing implementation.
You moved back to town when you accepted this position this past summer. What is your favorite part of being back in Wilmington?
Sam: Just being in Wilmington. My wife, Lauren, and I fell in love with this city when we first moved here to do mission work with a local non-profit, Vigilant Hope. Coming from a small town, we really appreciate all the activities this city has to offer. Not to mention all the skateparks and local beaches. And we just love our church. We’re just so happy to be back in Wilmington.
Do you have any pets? Tell us about them.
Sam: Mia, our allergy-laden dog, is a 60 pound terrier/Dalmatian mutt who taught us all about canine food allergies. So much so, that we started Salty Paws Treats, an all-natural dog treat brand that’s now in 14 stores and counting. And then there’s our cat, Tessa. She’s a cat, so there’s not really much to say about that.
What are the most challenging and rewarding aspects of marketing analysis?
Sam: Coming from a background in graphic design, looking at raw data can get a bit dry at times. Some of our clients think this way, too. That’s why I enjoy the challenge of finding the most meaningful data that corresponds to our client’s goals and putting it into a visual presentation that helps the client have a “lightbulb moment” where they can really see how we’re helping their business grow. This takes that person from a client to a partner, which is where their business growth is taken to the next level.
You have a Saturday with no plans… What are you up to?
Sam: If Lauren’s off work, we’re hitting up the beach. If Lauren’s working, I’m hitting up the skatepark with my crew, Vitamin F.
Sam was also the founder of Catalyst Advertising, which we acquired when he joined the Proclaim team.
